REAL HIT TOP FORM IN DOMINANT DISPLAY YEL Winter league competitive fixture Despite all the rain the past few days both teams were eager to play and luckily found a 4g pitch available. Earlier in the season Heanor had ran out victors with a 1-0 on the opening day of the season despite many efforts and good play from Codnor. Today it was a chance to hopefully get a couple of goals and lift Real into the top 2 going into the final round of fixtures and hopefully find a way to a league play off for promotion. The game started with some brilliant play from Codnor and some superb passing from Stan who was brilliant on the left throughout the game and Freddie on the right who covered a lot of yards. Bobby was calm at the back and travelled well with the ball whilst always being touch tight to the Heanor striker. Robbie was quick to intercept and loose balls and always looked to play forward. Codnor’s pressure then told when Harry was first to react to a loose ball and fired home his fifth of the season with a cracking right foot shot into the bottom corner. Oliver was close to turning in Harry’s next shot that hit the bar, as it just managed to squirm away from the poaching Oliver. A brief scare for Codnor when Heanor rattled the bar and a couple of good stops from Lukas as the hosts were beginning to get a look in. Teddy came on on the left and looked dangerous and also battled so well. Harrison came on on the right and made some really good runs, carrying on from last week but unfortunately suffered a stinging bum when Bobbys drilled shot was flying towards him. The second Codnor goal came when Reggie picked up the ball outside the box and his shot flew into the goal which probably wouldn’t have been saved by an adult, it was a bullet. Half time and Codnor were playing some good stuff, whilst Heanor were trying to unlock the Real defence with getting more players forward. Second half and Oliver started the charge and made some great presses stopping Heanor from coming out at the back. That pressing was rewarded when Harrison finished brilliantly past the Heanor keeper. Heanor’s keeper to his credit jumped back to his feet and told his teammates it didn’t matter and to keep going Codnor were still using the ball well and passing the ball around using each other. Stan was having so much joy on the left and worked well with Freddie in centre midfield. Freddie and Stan had a couple of goes at goal that were either saved or just went wide. Teddy was playing on the right and he hit the post and also had one blocked by the defender. That goal is coming Teddy, keep believing lad. More good defending at the back from Bobby and now Reggie stopped any Heanor attack. Bobby was calm on the ball and even when he stepped out looked to cross or pass. Sadly though the cleansheet went when the ball went across the Codnor box to the back post as the attacker finished past Lukas. Lukas made a couple of good saves late in the game and even sat on the ball for one save. Some very good handling and commanding his box also. Robbie was really good on the ball and was always on hand for a pass and delivered some good balls forward. Late on Harrison grabbed his second of the game with another good finish before Reggie fired in his second also. Both really good finishes and fully deserved their braces. Heanor had a couple of last minute chances but it wasn’t to be for them but put up a real good fight. Codnor were ruthless with their finishing and the Heanor coach commented on how well the lads struck the ball. The result pushed Codnor to joint second with a game remaining and hoping today’s re arranged other games go in their favour. Potm- Reggie, some great tackles, a couple of good goals and a big smile. All the lads put in a real shift today and that team spirit is getting so strong, the lads are only getting better and better. The big improvements in front of goal and the defensive work are unbelievable. Also the style of play is great to watch, while the lads learn to stay composed on the ball and talk to each other. "Lydon had her work cut out for her in goal today with very experienced team, but she kept her head up and her co-ordination of the team was on point "

"Allsopp-Holmes with the Managers Player this week, the coaches tried her in a few different positions, and nothing phased her from passing to tackles, she was happy to get stuck in"
